Montana Clients Using Insurance
If you are located in Montana and wish to use insurance benefits, I have partnered with Bozeman Therapy & Counseling, through which I am able to accept insurance.
How do I find out if I have out-of-network benefits?
The best way to find to understand your out-on-network benefits is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card. When you call, let them know you are planning to see an out-of-network therapist and want to understand your mental health benefits.
What should I ask my insurance company?
To get a clear picture of your coverage, here are some questions you can ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
Is teletherapy included in my out-of-network mental health coverage?
Are there any differences in reimbursement for telehealth sessions compared to in-person sessions?
Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services? If so, what is the total amount and how much has already been met?
What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed after my deductible is met?
What is the “allowed amount” for therapy sessions? (This is the rate your insurance uses to calculate reimbursement, which may differ from the full session fee.)
Are there limits on the number of sessions covered per year?
Do I need preauthorization or a referral to see an out-of-network therapist?
How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement, and where do I send it?
After submitting a superbill, how long does reimbursement typically take?
What codes would you use during therapy?
Typical codes used are 90791 for the initial intake session and 90837 for ongoing therapy sessions.
How does reimbursement typically work?
If you have out-of-network benefits, you will pay for sessions at the time of service. I will then provide you with a monthly superbill, which is a detailed receipt of services.
You will submit this to your insurance company directly, and they may reimburse you for a portion of the cost based on your specific plan.
Is reimbursement guaranteed?
No. Reimbursement is determined entirely by your insurance provider and your individual plan. I’m not able to guarantee coverage or influence reimbursement decisions.
Checking your benefits ahead of time can help you avoid unexpected costs and feel more confident about your financial plan for therapy.
I only offer weekly teletherapy sessions for new clients to ensure consistency, stability, and steady progress in the therapeutic work. Meaningful, long-lasting change takes time, and starting with weekly sessions helps build the safety and momentum needed for growth. I encourage clients to be compassionate and patient with themselves throughout the process.
I require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for all cancellations or rescheduled appointments. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may be subject to the cancellation fee of $125.
Therapy with me is a collaborative, supportive space where we move at a pace that feels right for you. Sessions often focus on understanding patterns shaped by early experiences, relationships, and attachment, while also exploring what’s coming up in your life now. You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to start - we’ll figure that out together.
I do accept men in my practice. However, my primary focus is individual therapy for adult women.
I am not currently accepting new couples clients at this time.
If you’re unsure whether I’m the right fit for your needs, I’m happy to talk more during a consultation.
